Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters - Nothtown Mall

I happened to be taking a trip at Northtown Mall and decided to give one of the two shops a shot.  This is another local chain. The barista was friendly and told me that they compared similarly to Starebucks. Not sure if that is a good thing. I asked the barista what they recommended, they made me an iced mocha. Probably not the most exciting choice. However, the coffee was quite good. Nice blend of coffee and a good strong taste to it.  This shop was a little on the smaller size. But I would say this, if you were looking for a good cup of joe to drink while shopping, then this would make a good stop.

Atticus Coffee & Gifts

My visit to Atticus Coffee & gifts did not come without some high expectations. I had heard consistently high recommendations from people all around Spokane. Atticus is owned by the same owner's of Boo Radley's. It has a very similar fun decor and atmosphere to it. The gift shop is quite large and the coffee shop is located near the rear of the business. The barista made several suggestions of popular drinks and knew their product well. I ended up with an iced caramel mocha.  The coffee was quite good. Nice blend of sweetness, flavor, and coffee taste to make it one of the best coffees I have had since moving to Washington. The prices were comparable to what you would find at other shops. The high expectations were met and I would highly recommend it. The only real downside I could give, is that being downtown parking was a nightmare. But after driving around trying to find a meter and finally get to the shop, I can honestly say the place does not disappoint it and the coffee is worth it.

ReBoot Coffee Bar

This was the first, of a common thing in Washington, that I visited. Combining a random business with coffee. To be honest, I was not expecting the coffee to be good as I half expected it to be an added service to draw customers in as an added bonus. I was pleasantly surprised to find that wasn't the case. The coffee portion of the business actually takes up a large portion of the space inside. The barista was quite friendly and seemed knowledgeable about the coffee product. I ordered an iced white coffee at the baristas suggestion that I'd get the most caffeine for my buck. The coffee was pretty good. It went down smoothly and had a good strong coffee flavor. The atmosphere was pretty unique and welcoming. I enjoyed the visit, the coffee was good, but not sure if I'd go out of my way to come back.

Amsterdam Coffee Club

I'll be honest I wasn't sure what to expect from this coffeehouse. It is actually located inside of Sativa Sisters a local Marijuana Dispensary. Prior to going in, I was half expecting it to be just a throw away hole in the wall establishment added as just an "attraction" for the dispensary.  What I found was a pretty nice establishment. While not big there were at least 10 chairs to sit down in. The barista was nice, though her knowledge was slightly lacking. As it would turn out, the dispensary and the coffeehouse share employees and the barista admitted that she rarely worked in the shop. Being in the same building as a dispensary they sold several hemp infused products. Keep in mind that they don't all have THC in them.  I decided to order a Java Chip Frappe that was hemp infused.  The coffee was pretty good. The hemp gave it a unique taste, but was enjoyable.  The price was a little more on the expensive side, especially if you ordered one of their hemp infused drinks. Overall the shop seemed really nice, the main downside would be that they don't appear to always have knowledgeable baristas in the shop.

Wake Up Call - 5th Ave

First review on International Coffee Day. A perfect way to start this blog out. Before heading here, I had debated about where to do my first review. According to various polls I read online, Wake Up Call Cafe had been voted the best coffee in town.  So, with that in mind I hit up the nearest one to me. A friend and I visited the one on 5th Ave.  The place was pretty easy to find and seemed to be steadily busy. They had duo drivethru's and a lobby to go inside. We decided to hit up one of the drive thru's. The drink I went with was an Iced London Latte. Service was fairly fast. When I got the drink, it didn't disappoint. Easily, the place's reputation held up. While I don't know yet if it is truly the best coffee in town, it definitely seems that it will hold up against some of the best. The coffee was smooth and was a great blend.  It was easy to drink without being overpowering in either the beans or the milk added to it. I was impressed with the coffee and I would recommend it to others. I would say that it is definitely worth a repeat visit from me.

Rules

This is a work in progress, the rules may be adjusted as new ones come to me. The ultimate goal is to go to and review every coffee shop in Spokane, WA.  These are the rules I am going to apply to where I visit.

1. Coffee must be the main thing they sell or are known for.
2. Include Picture of drink with each review.
3. Name and place will be mentioned.
4. Barista will only be mentioned because of incredibly poor or excellent service.
